Tokyo-A Ultramodern MegaCity

Tokyo

Introduction:
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade and a half, you've most likely heard of Tokyo and how amazing it is ! Tokyo is the capital of Japan and is the most populous city in the world-with a population of above 35 million people. In 2020, Tokyo will also have the honour of hosting the Olympic Games.

Things to Do and Places to Visit:
Mt Fuji: Mt Fuji-Japan's No. 1 Volcano has been laying dormant for the past few centuries but is still classified as an active volcano. One simply must visit this breathtaking site as it something that cannot be missed. The team here at Quick-Trek would definitely recommend the trek to the summit of this snow-capped peak as the views are to die for. The bullet train ( Shinkansen) will also allow you to experience the beauty of Mt.Fuji from a distance-which would be something those not willing to trek to the summit of Mt. Fuji should seriously consider.

Tokyo Tower: This tower is the world's largest self-supporting steel tower ! It was constructed in the late 1950's to represent Japan's rebirth as a key economic player in the modern world. Visitors can ascend to either the main observatory or the special observatory to get a special bird's eye view of Tokyo. Remember to bring a jacket as it gets chilly on both the observatories.

Places to Eat and What to Try:
Tsukiji Outer Market: The outer market is surely a pilgrimage anyone with interest in Japanese cuisine of food culture should make. The food options over here are also very affordable which is a bonus. Visit this place if you want to truly experience authentic Japanese food

Food to Try:
Yakitori: this is one of the most traditional Japanese dishes. Yakitori is almost like the equivalent of chicken skewers grilled over charcoal-but with a Japanese twist. It's mouth-wateringly delicious.

Things to Look out For:
Japan is a Cash-Based Society: Despite its tremendous economic progression, Japan is still largely a cash based society- so remember to take cash wherever you go in Tokyo.
Beware of Japanese-Only Establishments: Some establishments are Japanese-only which means that as a foreigner or a tourist you will be denied entry into those places. If this occurs to you, just move along to the next establishment (which presumably won't be Japanese-Only)

The Place to Stay:
Hilton Tokyo: A 5 star hotel, although it might be a tad bit expensive the hospitality one can expect to receive here far supersedes that of anywhere else in Tokyo

Airfare:
Flight from Tokyo from Sydney for one adult as of 20th September 2017 is $567 via AirAsia (zuji.com.au), however it is important to note that during peak season airfare to Tokyo typically exceeds $1200.

Overall Opinion:
Tokyo is a wonderful modern city full of polite people who will ensure your stay is comfortable. Just make to sure to respect the unique culture of this land and you will undoubtedly have a blast. Overall 4.5/5 stars
