Introduction:
Welcome to our post on Fiji, the tropical-island paradise of your dreams. In Fiji they welcome you by saying "Bula!" which simply means "hello" and is the perfect way to invite visitors into the Fijian environment. The archipelago that is Fiji is made up of more than 300 islands which would be impossible for you to experience in a short trip but is well worth every moment if you can make it happen. Prepare yourselves for becoming undeniably more tanned, the amazing cocktails and the shimmering blue water that surrounds the relaxed palms of Fiji and try to bring yourself to leave. Most people just can't leave paradise voluntarily.
Things to Do and Places to Visit:
Diving: Fiji is a diver's heaven with the world's best underwater experiences to be had. Try and dive on a clear blue sky day and you will see things that you cannot see anywhere else in the world. With the diverse coral reefs just metres from the shore it is not hard to explore the oceanic depths with a snorkel and some flippers. If you are really keen on diving, catch a local boat out to the further reefs and try your luck there searching for the bigger and better fish that live there with a local guide to show you the most pristine locations.

Place To Eat:
Bonefish Seafood: This place is highly regarded because of a number of reasons. Firstly, the excellent service and friendly staff are impeccable in their nature to help you decide on whats the best food on offer. Secondly, the wide variety of seafood choices that are all freshly cooked make this place impeccably desirable. Lastly, the value for money is near perfect with an exceptional menu that caters for every visitor you will be sure to find something you will love on it.
Food to Try:
Kokoda: This is a very special dish made up of raw Spanish Mackerel with 'Miti’. Fresh fish is marinated in freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice and left to "cook" for several hours. Coconut milk is added after it is "cooked" together with finely diced tomatoes, chillies and salt. It is left in the fridge for an hour or two then served as an entrĂ©e.

Things to Look out For:
Expensive Outer Reef Essentials: When you travel to the outer islands or leave for any reason off one of the major islands you will find that prices escalate very quickly for common goods like food and water. Whilst this may not be a problem for some, it is important to note that you should be prepared before leaving the main islands or come prepared with some extra funds to cover the higher price-tags.
Sea Snakes: In particular the Black-banded sea snake can be found in Fiji and are an animal to watch out for. They are a deadly species that have been known to bite but are often very passive so just be mindful when you are off exploring the islands of Fiji.

Airfare:
Flights from Sydney to Fiji are approximately around the $1000AUD mark but if you look thoroughly and visit during non-peak periods there are plenty of flights that are noticeably cheaper.
